Envirosmith Engineering, Inc. ^SM was founded in 1997 by James G. Smith, P.E., DEE.  Jim saw that clients sometimes need a senior level engineer  who can function as an extension of the client's own staff- an engineer who combines management experience and vision with successful project planning, financing and implementation.  A civil and environmental engineer and manager since 1972, Jim successfully blends his technical knowledge and skills with the common sense, business acumen, and dedication of a quality consultant.  Consequently, Envirosmith is a company that looks at communities’ infrastructure needs from a variety of perspectives – social, political, economic – and technical.

Jim has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering Science from Caltech and is a registered Professional Engineer in several states.  His career includes tenure as a senior officer and regional manager in two large international consulting engineering firms.  He has worked on projects for  local government and private sector clients throughout the United States, as well as 15 countries worldwide.

The personal dedication that Jim pours into his work is evidenced by his clients’ satisfaction with the solid planning and thorough implementation of their projects.   He thrives on challenging projects – ones that allow him to use the full spectrum of this consulting talent in finding just the right solution for a community’s needs.
